    Tehran

    The “arts and crafts” design for this one only rugs was taken from the original which was in the collection of Princess Ashraf Molouk Fakhrodoleh of the Qajar Dynasty of 19th century Persia and was made as a present to her and therefore is known as “Princes Fakhrodoleh” carpet. The simplicity in design is reminiscent of the arts and crafts movement in late 19th century in addition to the Frank Lloyd Wright’s prairie school of design in early to mid twentieth century.

    Nain Habibian

    A masterpiece from one of the best known workshop for making extremely fine Nain rugs. For three generations, the name “Habibian” has been synonymous with the finest weaving traditions of Persian rugs and is recognized worldwide by rug lovers. The rug comes in the extremely fine weave that can barely be seen by bare eyes. A true privilege to have, present and showcase such a great piece. Finding one is rare, having a pair (1223 and 1224) is unheard of.

    This antique Tabriz rug is following the design of the Caucasian Kuba and Shirvan rugs from the 19th century. The Caucasian area rugs are general in the smaller 4×6 size. What makes this truly one-of-kind is that the design and pattern of those small rugs is implemented in a larger room size with the same details in color palate. The use of the geometric forms and bright colors throughout makes a truly wonderful design. This is part of the identical pair (1260 and 1261) that was most likely commissioned to a top rug weaver in the city of Tabriz in NW Persia and custom designed and made in 2nd quarter of the 20th century as a wedding gift.
