Yazd is one of the oldest cities in the world and the tradition of fine weaving goes back centuries. The 13th-century Venetian explorer Marco Polo traveling through Persia mentioned the fine weaving tradition in the city of Yazd. The rug has a brick red field color with a central medallion and floral design throughout the field framed with a dark blue color border.
