The design of this antique Persian Mahal Sultanabad carpet is in the same manner as the carpets designed by William Morris the British designer during the Arts and Crafts movement of the late 1800s. This Mahal Sultanabad carpet from Western Persia in an allover pattern has a dark blue field with large geometric allover designs and brilliant colors by the use of the vegetable dyes including shades of green, blue, pink, and yellow. The border is in a rich dark red color.
