The Mahal Sultanabad which is the more famous name of this important rug weaving center in central Persia is from the 2nd quarter of the 20th century (the 1940s). It has a beautiful all-over pattern with a small central medallion with a large design format in a rich red field framed with a dark blue border. The large forms throughout the field are in green, red, yellow, pink, and other rich colors. The Ziegler Mahal Sultandabad carpets woven in Persia from the mid-1800s have become world renown and are very desirable because of their color scheme and open designs.
