This rug was produced in Amritsar near the Kashmir region located in northwest India. The weavers of Amritsar had not developed their own distinctive style of rug making until the early nineteenth century, and consequently, Amritsar rugs have a range of design elements, from European. East Asian and Persian alike. This carpet has an allover pattern in a dark rich blue. The border is in burgundy color. It is very finely woven with lustrous shiny wool.
