Bidjar rug from the early 20th century in great condition with a full pile and no repairs. Bidjar rugs are considered the “iron rugs of Persia” because of the tight weave. This rug with a central medallion in white and corners and sides in white makes a powerful statement. The use of bright pink, yellow, blue, and green in the field and border adds to the beauty of this rug. The "wetting" of the weft in each row of the weave before combing results in the use of twice as much material in weaving as other rugs and therefore these rugs tend to have a much tighter weave.
