Aubusson
This beautiful French Aubusson carpet from the late 1800s has an eight-lobed cartouche with the initials MM (Marjorie Merriweather) interlaced against a pale blue ground. This is surrounded by a field of roses intertwined with brown scrolls on a rose ground.
Providence: This beautiful carpet came from Hillwood Estate, Museum, and Gardens, Washington, DC, the former home of socialite Marjorie Merriweather Post, daughter of the founder of the General Foods Corporation.
