A Persian Farahan area rug from the late 1800s. Beauty, sophisticated design, and palate of natural dyes brought together in this 4th quarter 19th-century rug. The Ferahan rug with the Persian Garden design from the last quarter of the 19th century comes in an extremely fine weave. The primary field color is cream with vines and flowers in red, blue, green, and yellow. The central medallion in a dark blue field with designs in green, blue, and red. The primary border is in navy blue with meandering vines and flower rosettes. The rug with this fineness and use of material and color is extraordinary. The color combination especially the use of the yellow saffron color in the field adds to the richness and the beauty of the rug.
