The design of this antique Persian Mahal Sultanabad carpet is in the same manner as the carpets designed by William Morris during the Arts and Crafts movement of the late 1800s. This Mahal/Sultanabad carpet from Western Persia in an allover pattern has a dark blue field with large geometric allover designs and brilliant colors. The border is in a rich dark red color. The Ziegler Mahal Sultandabad carpets woven in Persia from the mid-1800s have become world renown and are very desirable because of their color scheme and open designs.
