    Tabriz Mahi

    TFine Tabriz Mahi from a great workshop in city of Tabriz in NW Persia. The unique color in the field. The border is mastery in design and use of colors. The Mahi design is copied in other places in Persia and outside the country. The challenge is to find a geneon piece such as this beautiful rug.

    Tabriz Mahi

    One of the highest quality in terms of design, material used and workmanship from Tabiz fine workshops. One in an “identical pair” 1021 and 1022(one inch longer). The Persian Tabriz carpet features a diamond center medallion in cream color with repeating series contrasting diamond motifs with repetitive Herati designs set in dark blue field. The classic Mahi (Fish in Persian) design is copied in other workshops in the region and in other countries. The challenge for a true collector is finding one that is “the original” and not a mere copy. It makes a tremendous difference and it clearly shows when one sees the rug from upfront.

    Tabriz Mahi

    The Tabriz rug with the Herati Mahi design (fish in Persian) with a combination of bright red and dark encompassing medallions in the center radiating out.     Tabriz Mahi

    The Tabriz Mahi design in red several diamond patterns radiating from the center of the rug out in alternating red and cream colors framed with a beautiful dark red color.     Tapestry

    One in a pair (1249 and 1250) of jacquard machine loom woven hunting textiles panels, northern European manufacture, late 19th century. Each panel taken from a famous Renaissance series of twelve woven tapestries, The Hunts of Maximilian, which were designed by Bernaert Van Orley (ca.1528-1531), originally woven in Brussels, in the Dermoyen workshop (1531-1533), originally woven in wool, silk and metal-thread.

    Tehran

    The “arts and crafts” design for this one only rugs was taken from the original which was in the collection of Princess Ashraf Molouk Fakhrodoleh of the Qajar Dynasty of 19th century Persia and was made as a present to her and therefore is known as “Princes Fakhrodoleh” carpet. The simplicity in design is reminiscent of the arts and crafts movement in late 19th century in addition to the Frank Lloyd Wright’s prairie school of design in early to mid twentieth century.

    Turkish Caucasian

    The Turkish carpet ins Caucasian design from early 1900 is in a beautiful dark aqua field with geometric design shapes in red, green, blue, ivory and pink throughout. There are six guard borders and the main border whose design is found on Genje and Karabagh Caucasian rugs. The uniqueness of this carpet is that the design of a caucasian carpet which usually comes in small sizes has been transferred to an oversize rug.
