    Bakhtiari Bibibaft

    This beautiful “Bibibaft” (grandmother’s weave) from the Bakhtiari tribe in Western Persia is from early 1900s. The theme of the garden design in Bakhtiaris are well known and the “Bibibaft” is the most sought after in all Bakhtiaris.     Baluch

    The Baluch tribes in the southeast corner of Persia use the dark red or rust with the combination of dark blue as their signature colors. The overall repeated geometric forms in camel hair, rust and blue colors framed by four different borders make for a very subtle tribal rug. The ends of the rug have Kilim weave in addition to some which add to the beauty of the rug.

    Bidjar

    Bidjar rug from early 20th century in great condition with full pile and no repairs. Bidjar rugs are considered the “iron rugs of persia” because of the tight weave. Great Bidjars are almost twice as heavy as similar rugs because of the method of their weaving. This rug with central medallion in white and corners and sides in white make a powerful statement.
